Valletta Green Festival 2015
As part of the Valletta 2018 celebrations, the Valletta Green Festival brings a flood of colour to an otherwise grey area of a city.
St George’s Square, right outside the Grand Masters Palace, will be transformed with a carpet of colourful flowers, consisting of some eighty thousand potted plants. The intention is to hold the event once a year, hoping for the idea to grow and spread to other areas of Malta and Gozo.
BirdLife Malta together with Sharklab-Malta, Friends of the Earth Malta, Żibel, and PDSA: Professional Diving Schools Association Malta andfish4tomorrow will be in St. George’s Square with informative materials about the impact of waste littering, and with educational games and activities for children.
The main aim of the event is to encourage more people to embrace plants and flower growing in their own towns and localities. The plants help to produce a far more attractive and pleasant location, plus when used on roofs, they can help to reduce the temperatures in hot summer months.
