HMS Ocean’s visit to Malta

The Royal Navy flagship, HMS Ocean visited Malta over the weekend on its return voyage from the Gulf, where it has been leading the operations of a US navy task force.


HMS Ocean has spent the past few months in the Gulf leading a coalition task force against ISIS and is now returning to her home port of Plymouth to give her crew well-deserved shore leave. The ship is due to be decommissioned in 2018 when the first of the latest Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carriers is launched.-


Ocean received a rousing full gun salute from the saluting battery, just below the Upper Barrakka Gardens and replied in return shot for shot.
