St Patrick’s Day in Malta
Malta seems to have really taken St Patrick’s Day celebrations to heart and there are events being held all over the island. We are not sure why particularly St Patrick’s Day, but maybe the free-flowing Guinness has something to do with it!
So if you want to celebrate St Patrick’s Day in Malta, where should you go? The main events are taking place in the party central area, called St Julians. In fact, Spinola Bay parking area will be closed off just for the day – St Patrick’s Day Festival in Spinola Bay.
Other events in the same area;
- Tigullio is celebrating St Patrick’s Day with a twelve-hour marathon of music, featuring Techno, Trance and House favourites
- The Thirsty Barber celebrates St Patrick’s Day with live bands from 5pm and DJ’s keeping you entertained
- Hugo’s Pub St Julians has brought Irish music in the form of a pipe band to celebrate the day
- Ryan’s Pub in Spinola Bay keeps you entertained with local DJ’s and plenty of Guinness
A little further down the coast, pop into The Funky Monkey on Manoel Island for St Patrick's Day live music and DJ's until the early hours.
The Dubliner Irish Pub in St Julians, will be celebrating as usual, but if you want to spend the day here, please arrive early, the pub has warned. Due to size limitations, the pub will be restricting the number of people in the bar on the day.
Looking further afield, the Lions Band Club in Birzebbuga is celebrating St Patrick’s with an open bar. Pay just €20 and drink whatever you like!! Doors open at 8pm. Profits from the event go to ALS Malta charity.
Even further, Gozo is joining in the fun with a St Patrick’s Day Party at the Clubhouse, Ghajnseilem football grounds.
On Sunday 19th March, the Irish Malta Circle has organised another St Patrick’s Day Parade through Valletta, with a pipe band, Irish dancers and more.
Whatever you do to celebrate, remember, don’t drink and drive. Go out, have a great time and take a taxi home.
